To match your requirements to a cable we will need the type of conductor, normally designated by a letter (see table below), the size and stranding, single or multi-pair, the operating temperature, insulation and sheath materials, type of screening if any, the colour code or the National Standard and any special operating conditions and the quantity.

Standards include BS1843, IEC 60584-3, American ANSI MC96.1, German DIN 43710-4, French NF C 42-323, & Japanese JIS C 1610-198.
