Low Smoke Halogen Free (LSHF or LSZH)
LSHF (a.k.a LSZH) is ideal for installations in public buildings or near sensitive equipment such as computer rooms or datacentres. Not to be confused with LSF cables, LSHF are those which emit minimal fumes in the event of fire.
Our LSHF cables are Low Smoke Halogen Free throughout - both insulation and sheath.

Low Smoke & Fume (LSF)
Commonly referred to as LSF, these cables are made up of modified PVC compounds which can produce less HCl gas and smoke when burnt than a standard PVC cable. However, the PVC is modified to varying degrees and differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Generally speaking LSF cables still produce fairly high volumes of dense black smoke and HCl gas. With no formal standards in place to guide the user the amount of HCl gas LSF cables produce can vary between 15% to 24%. By way of comparison, standard PVC gives off up to 28% HCl and LSHF cables are those which emit no more than 0.5% HCl when burned. There is a significant difference between the two products and it is vital that specifiers know which they are choosing.

External & Duct Grade Cables
FS supply a number of cables with the added protection of a heavy, black, UV resistant, waterproof, polyethylene jacket. The standard PVC inner jacket is retained for added protection and makes termination easier and faster.
The PE jacket not only protects the cable from moisture but also adds to the physical strength of the cable.
Ideal for clipping to masts, running up the sides of buildings, across roofs, or for installations in schools, industrial yards and CCTV networks.
-
Armouring
For the ultimate protection, many cables are offered with an overall armour and PE jacket.
Using the standard cable as a base, these cables feature a tough, PE inner sheath and 0.9mm solid galvanised steel wires cased in a heavy waterproof PE jacket.
The armoured range from FS Cables is ideal for installations where physical damage, vandalism or rodent attack could be a problem. They are also suitable for direct burial in the ground.

Fire Resistance
Many of our products are also independently tested for compliance to various independent and international fire performance standards. Some examples include Flame Retardance IEC 60332-1-2, IEC 60332-3-24C, UL 1685, Smoke Emission IEC 61034-2, UL 1685 and Halogen Emission IEC 60754-1 & 2.Additionally, the Draka FT range provides continued functionality in the event of a fire to critical networks. -
Screening
There are many screening options available from individual and overall tinned copper wire braid screens to tapes and foils.
Braiding can be used for either mechanical protection or screening against electromagnetic interference (EMI) or to give the cable torsional strength.

Oxygen Free Copper (OFC)
Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) uses 99.99% pure electrolytic copper conductors to achieve lower resistance for optimal sound quality.
Our professional grade TruSound range of speaker cables all feature OFC for the best sound performance.

Approvals
Many of our cables have been tested to meet a range of approvals and standards.
As a member of the KNX Association we offer a certified KNX cable from stock. HDBaseT approval is offered on Cat 5E and Cat 6.
Additionally London Underground (LU) approval is offered on a number of cables as well as various approvals from international bodies.
